DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 11th Annual Ocean Commotion 5K Race! This scenic 5K benefits Marine Mammals of Maine and its work educating about and providing response\, assistance\, and care to stranded marine mammals and sea turtles in southern and midcoast Maine. \nThe Ocean Commotion course is appropriate for participants of all fitness levels and takes runners\, joggers\, walkers\, and their canine companions along trails by the ocean\, offering stunning coastal scenery and freedom from traffic noise. The timed heats are professionally chip-timed\, and prizes will be awarded to the top three male\, female\, and canine finishers. \nYou can further support MMoME’s work by purchasing official tech gear to commemorate the event\, purchasing raffle tickets\, making a donation\, or starting a fundraiser to recruit your friends’ and family’s support of marine mammal and sea turtle conservation efforts. \nOther Race Day Activities \n\nA kids 1-mile fun run with prizes for every participant (no registration or registration fee required!)\nYouth and family activities to engage children in marine conservation:  Simulation of the process of rescue and rehab process of a stranded seal\, ocean-themed coloring books\, whale bone puzzles\, and more\nRace-day raffle before\, during\, and just after the race benefitting marine mammal and sea turtle response\, rehab\, and outreach—including jewelry\, artwork\, gift certificates\, etc.\nInfo booths about Marine Mammals of Maine\, the work we do\, some of our favorite responses and rescues\, and ways to get involved\n\nAdditional information and registration

SUMMARY:Wells Beach Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Beach cleanup at Wells Beach! This is a busy area for marine mammal activity and we’d love your help! Help with the clean up and visit the MMoME volunteers at the same time. The event is hosted by the Wells Police Department\, but MMOME volunteers will be there tabling and helping out. \nVolunteers will meet at Wells High School\, 200 Sanford Road\, at 10:00 am\, then head out in groups to clean Wells Harbor\, Wells Beach\, and Drakes Island Beach. \nBeach lovers of all ages are welcome. Gloves and other supplies will be provided\, and if you have a reach extender\, feel free to bring it along to help pick up litter. Congdon’s Doughnuts will be supplying free donuts for all particpants. \nTo RSVP\, email Saundra at beachcleanup@yahoo.com with your name and the number of people in your group.
